Workshop at GA NASW

by Peggy on October 25, 2009

There are several components in Palmiter Consulting. One of those is Tell the Story NOW: Social Media for Nonprofits. We had the wonderful opportunity to offer a workshop at the Georgia Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers Annual Converence on Social Media in Nonprofits. It was well attended and we loved doing it! It was so exciting, that we thought we would share the information here are well. So – enjoy.

I was privileged to present a workshop on social media and nonprofits at the Georgia Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers annual conference. We had great attendance and participation and I enjoyed it to the max. I hope everyone there did as well.

I promised all the participants that the workshop presentation would be available here by Monday, so I decided to get moving ahead of time. This post is several things. It is a place to get all the information that was discussed at the workshop. I am also using it to demonstrate some of the things I mentioned.

If you would simply like to just download the file, here is the pdf of the powerpoint presentation. If you click on the link, the file will open and you can save a copy. Please remember that creative commons attribution means to reference me and the site if you use the material. I hope you will use the information to start your own social media campaign.

In addition to the presentation, I would like to do a couple of demonstrations that you might find useful.

1. The powerpoint presentation is on my Slideshare Page and my Wikispace. Both are not very developed yet, but I think putting the presentation there lets you see the beginning of the process. Beth Kanter’s wikispace shows you how it can look!

2. The Youtube video will be hyperlinked in the powerpoint and the pdf, and will also be embedded in this post. If you are interested in the process, here it is.

I am embedding it into this post. I make sure I am working on the HTML design page in wordpress, I go to the youtube video. Either beside the video or underneath it (depending on your monitor) you will see the url and the word embed. Next to the code in the embed box is a little cog that is named customize. If I click on that, I can change the format and the size. I select what I want for my site, I copy the code and then I paste it into my post. VOILA! Here it is below!

OK folks, have at it. My only request is that you comment in the comments section so I can get feedback and we can start a conversation.
